Internet and farming in Africa

Africa has an online community of 50 million people and growing, most of these in urban Egypt and Nigeria. Internet access in the countryside is still barely accessible. Most Africans still live in rural areas and derive their income from farming. Two projects from Uganda and West Africa attempt to bridge the digital divide.

Now farmers are very much need internet access. I think the African government and NGOs must fund the establishment of internet access in the sub-urban and village areas so that the poor farmers will also be able to access the internet and gain knowledge about various issues in agriculture. I think the internet alone gives a chance for the farmers around the world to bond with each other.
